Office lockout help: what happens when you call

An office lockout stops work and leaves staff waiting outside. Knowing what to expect helps you get the door open with as little disruption as possible.

On the phone

We ask for the business address, the type of door and lock, whether an alarm is set and who is authorized to let us in. If you have a photo of the lock, it helps us bring the right tools.

When we arrive

We confirm that the person requesting entry is authorized by the business. That might be a manager's ID, a lease or a call to the owner. It is an important check: we will not open a business for someone who can't show they belong there.

Opening the door

Most commercial locks can be opened without damage using picks, bypass tools or by working on an exit device from the correct side. If the lock is high security or damaged, we explain the options and price before drilling.

After the door is open

  • We cut a spare key if the original is lost
  • We rekey the lock if keys may be in the wrong hands
  • We check the closer and strike so the door locks properly

Avoiding the next one

Many office lockouts come from a single key holder being away. A second key holder, a lock box or keypad entry solves that. Read why a professional is the safer choice or see our commercial services.
